1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules and restrictions for using the Is It Me? network monitoring platform. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.
2. Permitted Use
You may use the Service to:
- Monitor networks, devices, and services that you own or have explicit written permission to monitor
- Monitor connectivity from devices under your administrative control
- Generate reports and alerts for your own operational use
- Integrate with your own IT systems via our API
- Use monitoring data for internal operational, compliance, and reporting purposes
3. Prohibited Use
You must not use the Service to:
- Monitor networks, devices, or services that you do not own or have explicit permission to monitor
- Conduct surveillance of individuals without their knowledge and consent (where required by law)
- Use the agent software to collect data beyond what is necessary for network monitoring (e.g., keystroke logging, screen capture, file access)
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise extract source code from the Service
- Use the Service to violate any South African law, including but not limited to:
- Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (Act No. 25 of 2002)
- Cybercrimes and Cybersecurity Act, 2020
- Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA)
- Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act, 2002 (RICA)
- Overload, crash, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure (DDoS, brute force, resource exhaustion)
- Attempt to access other tenants' data or circumvent security measures
- Use the Service to transmit malware, viruses, ransomware, or other malicious code
- Resell, redistribute, or white-label the Service without written authorization
- Use the API in a way that exceeds rate limits or disrupts service for other users
- Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
4. Agent Software
The Is It Me? agent software is designed solely for network connectivity monitoring. It collects:
- Ping results (latency, packet loss) to configured targets
- Network connectivity status (internet, VPN, business)
- Basic device information (hostname, OS platform, Wi-Fi SSID)
- Diagnostic data (traceroute, DNS resolution) when explicitly triggered
The agent does not collect:
- Personal browsing history or web content
- Files, documents, or stored data
- Keystrokes or user activity
- Screen captures or camera access
- Email or communication content
5. Monitoring Consent
If you install agents on devices used by employees or other individuals, you are responsible for:
- Obtaining any required consent under South African law, including RICA and POPIA
- Informing users that monitoring software is installed (where required)
- Ensuring your use complies with your organization's policies and applicable labour laws
6. Security Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure
- Ensuring agents are installed only on authorized devices
- Configuring monitoring targets appropriately
- Notifying us promptly of any security incident involving the Service
7. Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Warning: Written notice of the violation
- Suspension: Temporary suspension of account access
- Termination: Permanent termination of account and deletion of data
- Legal action: Referral to law enforcement for serious violations
We reserve the right to take immediate action without prior notice for severe violations.

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email at least 14 days before taking effect.
